]]>Built for the 2015 SEMA Show, Webasto Thermo & Comfort North America is using the Ford Edge Sport to showcase its thermo technology and sunroof products. Webasto unveiled its concept Ford Edge this week in Ford Motor Company’s booth. But Brad got to take it for an early test drive.
The drive behind the project was to take the already dynamic Ford Edge Sport and enhance the performance, handling and driver experience and create the ultimate in luxury performance. Nicknamed, “Ignition,” the Ford Edge Sport by Webasto ignites the driver’s adrenaline and truly lets them “feel the drive.”
Who better to push “Ignition” to the edge than a NASCAR Champion known for his aggressive racing style and elite talent? Michigan International Speedway provided access to their track for a day and turned Keselowski and Webasto loose. What transpired was pretty incredible.
Keselowski pushed the Edge to its absolute limits, testing the boundaries of the vehicle’s prototype suspension, exhaust and powertrain modifications. With this data, Webasto was able to make some adjustments and put the finishing touches on the car in preparation for the unveiling at the SEMA show. In addition to the performance modifications, Webasto installed an engine pre-heater on the Edge.
Controlled by a smartphone, the heater brings the engine’s fluids up to optimum operating temperature before the engine is even started. This reduces engine wear & tear and exhaust emission, prolongs turbocharger life and provides a warm interior.

]]>The correct answer to that was no, and that is exactly what Brad did.
After the 90 lap endurance race, winner Kyle Busch was asked by the media if he felt he was raced cleanly by Brad Keselowski. Busch replied, “For sure.”
Being on the bubble for a Chase berth, any slight rivalry could come back to haunt you when you least want it.
But why does it matter to the defending Sprint Cup Champion what another competitor thinks? Throughout the rest of his career, it would not have bothered BK the least bit if another driver had a problem with him. But in order to have a shot at a Championship repeat, this is a delicate time for driver No. 2.
Throughout the final turns of the left and right handed course, Kes had plenty of opportunities to apply his bumper to the rear of the M&M’s Camry, but he thought better of it. Coming into the race, Kyle Busch had two victories, respectively, while sitting well in the Chase. While Busch seems to be a lock in this year’s 10 race shootout, Brad on the other hand, is not. Many things were going through his mind, but the most dominant had to be the thought of retaliation. What if Brad would have bumped Kyle? Even if Busch would have finished second, and Brad won, BK would have to be worried. Being on the bubble for a Chase berth, any slight rivalry could come back to haunt you when you least want it.
Instead of taking that risk, Brad brought back the best finish for his Penske Racing team all year — second, for the third consecutive year at Watkins Glen. Most importantly, Brad is back in the top 10 in the standings, placing him in the Chase for the Sprint Cup for a third consecutive year. Could it be due to racing Kyle Busch cleanly?
We’ll have to see next time they take to the track.

]]>What’s a girl gotta do to see the Blue Deuce in Victory Lane?
I’ve tried rain dancing and lucky charms, and even a voodoo doll to take out the 48 last week, but NOTHING has helped! I know good things come to all who wait, but I think we’ve been waiting an awful long time. The championship has been great, don’t get me wrong. I am grateful that the 2 team was able to bring home that first championship for Roger Penske.
If I have to create 42 voodoo dolls to take out the rest of the field at Sonoma, I totally will!
But, again, I ask, what’s a girl gotta do to see her driver in Victory Lane?!
The team has been running well all season long. They’ve had a lot of really great runs only to be spoiled at the end, whether it’s by getting caught up by someone driving too aggressively, or by getting caught up in a lover’s quarrel, or even running out of fuel at the last moment.
Something’s gotta give. It won’t be easy, but if I have to create 42 voodoo dolls to take out the rest of the field at Sonoma, I totally will!
It’s been 22 points races since we’ve seen the Blue Deuce in Victory Lane. Personally, I’m ready to see what special, secret Victory Lane celebration Brad has in store. It appears you gods up there don’t! C’mon! How great would it be to see that American Flag fly during a burn out?
So, short of sacrificing a live animal, what’s a girl gotta do for her driver to get a race win?
Okay, okay, I promise, I’ll be good. No more voodoo dolls, honest. I won’t even talk bad about the 48 for the rest of the season…er..week, if you grant me this one thing!
It is time to let that American Flag fly! (Please…?)

]]>That was the summer I found NASCAR and, ultimately, Brad.
When you get into a funk, you’re not exactly sure of where to go or what to do. I do a lot of story writing in my free time, but I also like to paint and do crafts, mostly things I use to decorate my room. That summer, I spent every ounce of my time unemployed learning about NASCAR and its drivers. When Brad won at Kansas, he certainly was put on my radar. I was impressed that such a young guy could make a big statement with a fuel mileage win.
Having someone like Brad to look up to, someone who doesn’t falter when faced with adversity, that’s what kept me going when I felt like there was no hope.
It wasn’t truly until later that year, when Brad broke his ankle and tweeted the picture out to the world, that I called myself a fan.
Throwing myself into what my mother calls a “possession” was probably what kept me from losing it completely. I started painting small signs — whether NASCAR or just Brad-related — and collecting other things like hero cards or trading cards. I happen to have several good friends through Twitter who have collaborated to help me with my collection.
When I did find employment, that wasn’t the end of my love of NASCAR. Brad’s hot streak in 2011 showed everyone that he was a force to be reckoned with. A friend of mine and I began competing to see who could get the most “Brad tweets.” This was, of course, back when he only had 30,000 or so followers on Twitter.
Since then, this “possession” has helped me to find myself. Being able to talk directly to my driver, whether he talks back or not, really just makes the sport that much better as a whole.
When Brad did his Twitter truck, I hoped so much I would get on it — and I did! Then he wanted to sell the pieces for his charity. Of course, I wanted mine. Since then, I have started to accumulate things: hero cards, 2 license plates, t-shirts, banners. I even won a socket from Colin Fambrough (crew member on the 2), and he threw in a couple of used lugnuts and a Victory Lane hat from Chicago last year.
(That was just the beginning of Brad’s ultimate chase run to win the Sprint Cup.)
Fans don’t get to experience this sort of thing in other sports. They definitely don’t get to win cool one-of-a-kind items. Becoming a NASCAR fan saved me when I was in a very dark place. Having someone like Brad to look up to, someone who doesn’t falter when faced with adversity, that’s what kept me going when I felt like there was no hope.
Now, he’s a champion.
And I couldn’t be more proud to say that I’m a fan of his for life. I’m already planning my next painting so when I get to meet him again, I can get it signed!

]]>The post Brad Seeks Elusive Win at Martinsville appeared first on BradRacing.com | The Official Web Site of Brad Keselowski www.bk30beta.www.bk30beta.bradracing.com.
]]>On Sunday in Martinsville, Brad will be aiming to change that.
After a week off for Easter, the NASCAR Sprint Cup season resumes this weekend in Martinsville, Virginia for the STP Gas Booster 500 on Sunday afternoon.
The race is Brad’s seventh Sprint Cup start at Martinsville. In the most recent race there last fall, BK drove the Blue Deuce back from the back of the field after starting 32nd to finish in 6th, a key finish in his run at the 2012 Cup. Brad admitted that early in his career, Martinsville was a track that frustrated him, but the more he races there, the better he feels about his chances.
“The last few times we have been there I feel like we have been exceptionally strong. We didn’t qualify as well as we wanted to last fall and started in the back, but by the end of the race we came on really well. I think going back to Martinsville we are a lot smarter, I am a lot wiser as to what I need and I think this year I have to be honest – I am going in feeling like we can win the race and might be one of the favorites.”
In addition to a run at his first victory of the season, Brad will be looking to keep up one of the most consistent starts to a season of his career. BK has finished in the Top 5 in four of the first five races this season. He told reporters ahead of this weekend’s race in Martinsville that the No. 2 team’s start has him confident in what they’re capable of this season.
“I can tell you it is a big weight off our shoulders to come out of the gate so strong,” he said. “It is a quick way of quieting all those that said when we switched to Ford we were going to be in a lot of trouble. That is really big for us at Penske Racing and big for me personally.”
Brad believes that the cars the team has been putting out on the track and the consistent performances they’ve strung together to begin the defense of their title reflect positively on the 2 crew from top to bottom.
“It shows the strength we have at every layer, whether as a company, as a team or as a driver and crew chief combination,” he said. “It is something I am exceptionally proud of.”
The weekend in Martinsville begins on Friday with practice at noon and qualifying for the STP Gas Booster 500 at 3:40 p.m. EDT. Friday’s practice will be shown live on SPEED with qualifying airing on tape delay at 8 p.m. EDT. With no Nationwide races this week, Saturday’s only action is back-to-back practices at 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 a.m. Those sessions can be seen on SPEED beginning at 11:30 a.m. EDT
The green flag for the STP Gas Booster 500 drops on Sunday shortly after 1 p.m. EDT and the race will be broadcast live on FOX.

]]>For the second straight week, Brad left the race track with a Top 5 finish after racing the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford into fourth place in Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500. After two races, Brad finds himself third in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Standings behind Jimmie Johnson, who finished second and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who was right behind him in fifth.
“To turn in two fourths at the beginning of the season, this is by far the best start of the season I’ve ever had,” Brad said. “I feel like we’ve had a shot to win the first two races of the year and came up just short in both of them.”
Brad started 11th after his qualifying lap of 26.309 seconds and hung in the Top 10 most of the day. He pushed himself as high as third place early in the race with help from his pit crew during a great two-tire pit stop on lap 100. Twenty-seven laps later, Brad took the lead and held it for 16 laps.
“If you could get to the lead, it looked like you had it covered, but it just wasn’t meant to be,” Brad said afterward.
BK lost the lead when a caution came out on lap 142 and the field went in for pit-stops. Brad’s earlier gamble with a two-tire stop forced him to take four tires on the Miller Lite Ford, while other drives followed his lead from the previous stop and took just two. That shifted BK back to 16th place on the restart.
Brad spent the next 170 laps racing the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford from the middle of the pack to the front of the field. He noted after the race that the new car that NASCAR is debuting this season, while state of the art, has its drawbacks.
“These cars are a big step forward in a lot of ways,” he said. “I’d love to see them be better in traffic. It’s harder than ever to pass in traffic.”
But Brad worked through those struggles and when a caution came out in the final laps, setting up a green-white-checker finish, he found himself in third place behind teammate Carl Edwards with a chance to challenge for the win.
On the side-by-side restart, the two Fords teamed up as Brad’s No. 2 pushed Edwards’ 99 out ahead of Johnson, who was gunning for his second straight win to start the season. But once Carl got out in front he pulled away and Brad quickly lost his chance at the win.
“I just gave Carl a good push into turn one,” BK said. “I wish I would have used the run to try and make a pass, but I don’t think I could have pulled it off without wrecking Carl.”
Instead, Brad was left to battle with Johnson and Denny Hamlin for the second third and fourth spots. The trio traded spots and Brad noted after the race that the excitement of the final laps thrilled him.
“Those guys fought hard and there was a lot of desire,” he said. “It’s early in the season, but I feel like there’s a lot of passion and that’s a good thing. That’s how it’s supposed to be, right? That was cool.”
In the end, Brad took the Blue Deuce around the final turn in fourth place and was proud of the effort of the entire Miller Lite Ford team on Sunday.
“We had a really great Miller Lite Ford today,” Brad said. “I thought we had the car to win the race, but I could just never get that track position towards the end that we needed.”

]]>On lap 33 of the Great American Race, a logjam at the front of the field created a wreck in the middle, and Brad Keselowski got swallowed up in it. Unavoidable contact with Juan Pablo Montoya and then Kevin Harvick left the front ends of Blue Deuce torn up.
But Brad’s crew did an excellent job of putting the car back together and getting the Miller Lite Ford back out on the track at the tail end of the lead lap. He ran near the middle of the field for another 100–plus laps before another logjam and a wreck with David Reutimann and Trevor Bayne.
This time it was the tail end of the No. 2 that got the brunt of the damage as, after being struck hard by Bayne’s No. 21, the 2 drifted down to the apron and bottomed out leaving Brad with a car that didn’t want to go in the direction he was turning it. At a track like Daytona, where the simplest setback can become a colossal blow, involvement in two wrecks is essentially a death knell.
“I was concerned,” Brad said. “But once they drop the green, there is no room to be concerned.”
The crew of the No. 2 car saw it that way as well and went to work during the caution. Brad made a pit stop each time around as the crew steadily made repairs while keeping their driver in contention. He noted after the race that his strategy was simple.
“You drive it. You don’t ask, you just drive,” he said. “You don’t want to make excuses for not being successful — you could do that or you can go out there and put it all on the line and try to win.”
The Blue Deuce once again re-started at the back of the field, but keen pit strategy, which involved the Miller Lite Ford topping off every time it came in for repairs paid off and with 29 laps to go Brad was at the front of the field with a chance to win the Daytona 500 for their first time in his career.
“We got real fortunate because we caught a big break when the yellow came out and we had just pitted,” Brad said. “That got us to the lead.”
Brad knew that if he could ride the high line at the front for the rest of the race he would have a chance to go to Victory Lane despite all the bumps his car had taken earlier in the race. He led for 13 laps before another caution doomed his hopes.
This yellow wasn’t even for a wreck that Brad was involved in, but it put him in a position to have to race the low line with strong cars like the 48 of race winner Jimmie Johnson above him.
“We caught a bad break when the yellow came out as we were battling with Jimmie,” he said. “He was an inch in front of me when the yellow came out and that gave him the high line on the restart and there was nothing we could do. We weren’t strong enough to hold our own there on the bottom…We wrecked about three times today and still had a shot at the win and I took it, we just came up short.”
Johnson took the lead on the restart and held it for the remainder of the race. Though Brad and the rest of the low-line got shuffled back on the restart, he managed to swoop through the top 10. In the final stretch, he got in line behind Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt Jr. to slingshot toward the front and drive the Blue Deuce — covered in black tape and Bare Bond on the front and rear — to a fourth place finish.
“We don’t always have the best car, but somehow we find a way to get good finishes, and that’s part of what it takes to win championships,” said Paul Wolfe, Brad’s crew chief. “Just a great way to start the season for us with a top-five. We haven’t had the greatest luck here at Daytona, and it’s going to be a learning curve here early in the season.”
NEXT UP
Brad and the crew now head West for the second race of the 2013 season, the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday afternoon.
In seven career Sprint Cup races at Phoenix, Brad has a Top 5 and two Top 10’s. He came from the 28th position at the start to finish fifth in the Subway Fresh Fit 500 last year. It was the first of 13 Top 5 finishes for BK in his championship season.
The green flag drops just after 3 p.m. EST on Sunday in Phoenix and the race can be seen on FOX.
